When did the settlers come over from the middle east.
I was just wondering when the laminites come over from the middle east?
And how many were there?
And when were the great wars that had millions of people fighting?
And when did these great wars end?

Help me out here...How many
Help me out here...How many came over...when did the final conflict happen....How many people were in the wars....How long would it take these people to have millions of kids to have these wars...let us figure this out mathmatically....
I don't believe it is LDS
I don't believe it is LDS doctrine that Lehi and his family were the only source of all the Native Americans. In fact, the introduction to the Book of Mormon says they were the "principal ancestors". This implies that there were other peoples involved.
The word "million" only appears in the entire Book of Mormon in relation to the Jaredite war. Coriantumr was sad because the war caused the death of about "two millions" of mighty men, and also their women and children. But then his civilization had 8 barges full of people and animals to start out with, and they came over about 2000 B.C., so they had a millenium or so to work with.
Shall we do the math? Suppose he started with 48 people, and the people waited until they were 18 to get married, and each family averaged 4 kids, spaced 2 years apart, on the average. Using this rather conservative scenario, the population would more than double every 25 years. After 400 years, the new baby population would be over 3 million.
The Nephites and Lamanites came over about 600 B.C., but they later joined up with Zarahemla and his people, who had already been here for a while. At any rate, their armies numbered in the tens of thousands, and maybe a couple hundred thousand by 400 A.D., but that is easily conceivable.
there most of not been any
there most of not been any deaths...or disease or war...
didn't you say that they fought for a long time...they must of said time out...time to have more babies...And how to feed so many people...
Ok everybody, is there any
Ok everybody, is there any proof of these ancient people? It's fine to have all these numbers and calculations and theories, but if there is no evidence of their civilizations, what are we (all of us)to believe? That they came, lived and vanished without a trace?
Even the dinosaurs left something (note the sarcasm)...
I agree....I was thinking
I agree....I was thinking last night that 2 million people is more those that live in Idaho. So in theory all the people in Idaho went to New York and attacked another 2 million people.
The houses needed, tents, food, supplies, armor, weapons had to be immense. I was in the Marines and even getting a battalion organized and supplied was very expensive but to have to use weapons in those days had to be even harder, they had to make them theirselves. I look at Idaho and cannot imagine what a city must of looked like to house even 500,000 people. I would think a structure like that should still exist.
The battles in the bible were between only thousands. 5 thousand, 10 thousand....A civilzation that controlled millions in way back when should still be around today or at least have some record of history.
And there is proof of these
And there is proof of these wars and civilizations from the Holy Bible. Relics and artifacts are found all over the place even today! Just look at Damascus, the Capital of Syria. If I remember correctly it is the oldest city that is still a city today. (I've been there, What a mixture of ancient and modern buildings and structures!). Yet, not 1 "coin" or "bone" in America? What are we led to believe?
