Mormons: Why are we so afraid of gay marriage?
Posted by: diosmio in Beliefs, Mormon, PoliticsI want to know what you all think about Proposition 8? This is a very touchy subject because it deals with the overturning of a Constitutional Amendment. Do we, as Mormons have a right to tell non-Mormons how to live their lives? Who are we protecting? If we teach our own children our own beliefs, our own values, why should we be so threatened by what those gay heathens in Hollywood do? Are our values so weak that with any little change we will crumble as an institution? Aren’t we living up to every stereotype put out there about us? We have had to deal with being outsiders most of our lives, why impose this burden on others? We were once oppressed, now we are the oppressors…..isn’t that a bit hypocritical? I want to know what you all think.
