Temple Symbols

I was visiting Temple Square over the holidays and asked (I've wondered before and have looked up "opinions") what all the symbols on the Temple in Salt Lake and Logan mean. My LDS friend, who was married in the Temple, nor his wife knew. They actually never even noticed before. Most of the stuff I read on the .net is from anti mormon sites, but I can't find any info. from mormon (pro or just info) sites. Anyone know, or can share their ideas, readings ect. I've read much on the Mason connection, goatshead star(one point down), the Egyptian "all seeing eye" and so on. There seems to be a strong connection between the Mason's and LDS church. It's common knowledge that Joe Smith and B. Young were members of this organization, it's also common knowledge of Joe's interests in magic, superstition, seer stones, and the Jupiter talisman found in his pocket when killed in IL. Is there "official" LDS Church records on line, or in print, that one can read?

Hi DaKoz, Heres a quick

Hi DaKoz,
Heres a quick explaination of the symbols.
Sun stone=Celestial kingdom or acceptance of ALL that God teaches.
Moon stone=Telestial kingdom or acceptance of part of what God teaches.
Earth stone=God's footstool or where the King(Christ) sets His feet while on His throne.

Hi DaKoz,
I'll give you a quick overview of the symbolisms.

Sun Stones=Celestial Kingdom or acceptance of All the Light/Truth that God has given to men.

Moon Stone=Telestial Kingdom or acceptance of PART of the full Truth that God has given to men.

Earth Stones=The footstool of God.
The earth is Gods footstool and is where He places His feet while on His throne.

Stars=Morning stars or Christ and those who worship Christ. Christ is called "the bright and Morning Star. Stars also represent authority and those with Priesthood keys.
(Rev.'s 12 stars are speaking of the twelve Apostles of Christ. It also talks about the earth being the footstool.)

All Seeing Eye=God's eyes filled with light and knowledge. 1Kings 8:29, & 9:3

Hands Clasped=Right hand of fellowship. Gal.2:9 and Jer. compares hand clasp to entering into a covenant with God.

Big dipper=Sign that gives direction. Spiritual direction leads to God.

You may see a connection to Masons but they claim they get all their tokens and symbols from what were used in the temple of Solomon. So If "joe" and "B." are connected to this...IT AINT A SIN.

You cant condemn what is represented in symbolism on the temple without condemning the Bible from where the symbols were taken.

Your false accusation of JSmith being into "magic, superstition, seer stones, and whatever else you dont understand" is NO different than what Christ and His Apostles were accused of. The Pharisees accused Christ of learning "magic" from the Egyptians too.
I hope that at least now you can add some logical ideas to the scale of judgment ,which support Mormon beliefs, instead of only those which condemn them.
In the end you will believe what you want about these symbols.

Thanks for your explanation

Thanks for your explanation of Temple symbols and so on. As for "condemn what is represented" and "Your false accusation of of JSmith ....", didn't mean to offend you, just asking. Why do you take offence to what I ask, in my post, did I post anything negative about the Mason Connection. All I said is "There seems to be a strong connection between the Mason's and the LDS church." No SIN implied at all. Anyway, I don't mean to offend, or should it be you shouldn't get offended when folks ask questions about something that you seem very knowlegdable about. Thanks again........

Hi DaHoz, I guess I sounded

Hi DaHoz,
I guess I sounded a bit defensive. Ive been here long enough that "offended" is not really how I feel.
If you want to know why I was a bit defensive it is not because you wonder about the temple and of course I love to answer questions about my faith. It was because of your saying "it's common knowledge of Joe's intrest in magic and such." It may be "common rumor" among anti Mormons but it isnt an accurate statement. Also, and I realize you may not have meant it to be disrepectful, it's usually anti Mormons with hateful "attitudes" that refer to a man I believe is a prophet as "Joe" or "ol Joe". Ive just been around the Anti's too much I suppose.
Im sorry to have been overly defensive if you were an honest asker of questions and if you meant no disrespect.
There may also be more info on this at lds.org. Thanks for giving me opportunity to answer some questions.

I see your point, but in no

I see your point, but in no way do I mean anything disrespect, I guess I should re-phrase thing differently. A little history on me, I've moved here from IL a few years ago and am interested in the history of the church and the culture that has evolved from it. Never have I lived in a culture where everything revolves around a religion. This is what pulls at my interest. Yes, I read my share of "anti-mormon" lit., and like any opposing side it may/may not be biased. I also read a lot of church history lit. Both have different versions of stories, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. I work and discuss this with an LDS friend (whom I consider a close friend). I'm not here to bash the LDS culture, just ask for honest opinions on issues I can't find answers to. Again, thanks for the info. Take care, oh and Happy New Year. :)

Dear DaKoz, I can appreciate

Dear DaKoz,
I can appreciate all youve said and I believe you are a sincere person with sincere intrests and questions. Believing this, I will let down the defensive mode and you may ask away any question that comes and I will not pre judge your intentions as being anything other than honest. I grew up in Utah and now live in the eastern US. Utah certainly is unique.
I guess each area of the country has its own little subculture. Did work bring you from IL to UT?
Happy New Year too!

THose symbols are actually

THose symbols are actually witchcraft symbols. THey come from the symbols from the masonry beliefs. Look up masonry and you will be quite surprised. The believe in some freaky stuff. Joseph Smith was a Mason when he formed the Mormon church. Look up his history.
